The website Travel with Pierre is operated by Pierre Geraud, tourism consultant, hereinafter referred to as “we,” “our,” or “the Publisher.”

This policy explains how we collect and process personal data through www.travelwithpierre.com and associated channels (contact form, email, social media, newsletter, appointment scheduling).

2) Applicable Legal Framework

We process data in accordance with the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act (“Informatique et Libertés”).
Each processing activity relies on one of the legal bases listed in Article 6 of the GDPR (consent, contract, legal obligation, legitimate interest, etc.).

3) What Data Do We Collect?

Depending on your interactions, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact data: name, surname, email, phone, company (if applicable).

  • Project information & travel preferences (tourism consulting): desired destinations, dates, budget, logistics, accommodation/transport/activity preferences.

  • Travel-related data (only if you choose to provide it): passport number, date of birth, nationality, emergency contacts, health information strictly necessary for travel arrangements (e.g., allergies, dietary needs) — processed with your explicit consent and minimized.

  • Billing data (if a service is purchased): billing address, accounting details.

  • Browsing data: IP address, technical identifiers/events, pages visited, cookies/trackers subject to your consent (see §9).

Sources: directly from you (forms, emails, calls), from our service providers (hosting, analytics, email tools), or from travel partners (e.g., local agents, hotels, transport providers) when necessary to fulfill a requested service.

4) Purposes and Legal Bases

  • Responding to your requests (quotes, contact, appointments) and providing consulting services: contract performance or pre-contractual measures.

  • Administrative management & invoicing: legal obligation (accounting records).

  • Marketing/communication (newsletter, content, events): consent (opt-in) or legitimate interest for targeted B2B communications, with an opt-out right.

  • Audience measurement & website improvement: consent for non-essential trackers (see §9).

  • Website security and fraud prevention: legitimate interest (service protection).

5) Recipients and Subprocessors

We do not sell your data. We share it only when necessary and proportionate:

  • Hosting & website tools: Wix.com Ltd. (processor). Wix processes data under our instructions, provides a DPA, and GDPR-compliant tools.

  • Analytics (if enabled): Google Analytics 4. See §10 for GA4 data retention details.

  • Emailing (if enabled): e.g., MailerLite/Mailchimp for newsletters.

  • Appointment scheduling (if enabled): e.g., Calendly.

  • Online payment (if enabled): e.g., Stripe — your card data is handled directly by the payment provider.

  • Travel partners (if authorized by you): local agents, hotels, transport providers, travel insurers, etc., for quotes or bookings.

6) Transfers Outside the EU/EEA

Some recipients (e.g., technical providers or travel partners abroad) may be located outside the EU/EEA. In such cases, we use:

  • an EU Commission adequacy decision, or

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) approved in 2021 (old SCCs are invalid as of December 27, 2022).

7) Data Retention Periods

We apply retention periods proportionate to each purpose:

  • Prospects & business exchanges: 3 years from your last contact (e.g., click, email, request).

  • Clients & project files: during the contractual relationship, then 3 years for marketing purposes, unless you object.

  • Invoices & accounting records: 10 years (legal obligation – French Commercial Code, art. L123-22).

  • Cookies/trackers: duration configured per purpose and legal recommendations; consent may be requested again periodically or after significant changes.

  • GA4 analytics (if enabled): exploration data for 2 months (default) or 14 months if configured, with extended options in GA4 360.

8) Your Rights

You have the rights of access, rectification, deletion, objection, restriction, portability, and the right to define instructions for your data after death.
You may also withdraw your consent at any time for consent-based processing.
Response time: 1 month, extendable up to 3 months for complex requests.

9) Minors

For information society services based on consent, in France, children under 15 require the joint consent of a parent or guardian.

10) Cookies & Other Trackers (Consent Banner)

On your first visit, a banner allows you to accept, refuse, or customize non-essential cookies (analytics, marketing, etc.). Refusal must be as easy as acceptance.
You can modify your choices anytime via “Cookie Settings” in the footer.
Essential cookies required for website functionality are set without consent.

Indicative list of trackers (depending on configuration):

  • Essential: security, uptime, anti-fraud.

  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4 (if enabled).

  • Functional: video player, maps, appointment tools.

11) Audience Measurement Details (GA4 – if enabled)

If you consent to analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 for aggregated statistics.
GA4 Explorations retain data for 2 months (default) or 14 months (if configured).
Longer durations apply only to GA4 360.
You may withdraw your consent anytime via the cookie banner.

We may contact you by email or phone to: respond to your inquiries, deliver our services, or send content/invitations (with your consent or under legitimate B2B interest).

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures (HTTPS/TLS, access control, logging, backups, data minimization, contractual clauses with processors).
Wix acts as a processor and contractually commits (via DPA) to protect the processed data.

14) Travel Partners and Data Needed for Trips

As part of our travel consulting service, and only upon your request, certain data (identity, contact info, preferences, and when necessary, identity/insurance/visa details) may be shared with partners (local agents, hotels, transport providers, insurers) for quotes or bookings.
For sensitive data (e.g., allergies), we obtain your explicit consent and ensure only the minimum required information is shared.

15) Accounting & Legal Obligations

Billing-related data is retained and archived to meet French legal requirements (10 years – French Commercial Code).

Our website may contain links to third-party sites or apps (e.g., service providers, social networks).
We are not responsible for their privacy or cookie practices; please review their respective policies.
